![]() ![]() ![]() I have often joked with my wife about popping to the "big smoke" and getting the boss to pop the kettle on for a tea and a chat. Her Majesty has effectively been "The Boss" for over 30 years for me and I have been proud to serve. I joined St John Ambulance in 2015 until this present day with her as our leader. I continued this in 1991 upon joining Royal Fleet Auxiliary until ill health retirement in August 2021. I entered crown service in 1984 upon joining HMS CAMBRIA, South Wales Division Royal Naval Reserve. ![]() Her ability to reach out to her subjects, through her television broadcasts and her public speeches, and appearances were instrumental in making us all feel a part of one big royal family, envied around the globe. For me Queen Elizabeth II has been simply THE Queen. I have listened to her Majesty’s Christmas message every year on Christmas Day. The Queen has been the monarch throughout my life – always a source of stability & wise words. The whole country and Commonwealth came together in a spirit of enormous celebration to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – 70 years of unwavering service to her people. In 2022 she celebrated her platinum jubilee at the age of 96.įifteen British prime ministers have served under her, plus the many prime ministers, former prime ministers and leaders of our Commonwealth countries. She ruled this great country for 70 years, surpassing the reign of Queen Victoria. The Queen was a truly remarkable woman and her death has created a feeling of enormous loss. ![]()
